As The Canadian Press first reported, two men were pulled from a raft this past Saturday morning after their boat started to unexpectedly take on water. The two fishermen were wise to recognize the severity of the incident, and they placed a mayday call on the radio before abandoning their ship for the safety of a life raft.
Toronto Marine Unit was on the scene within 15 minutes, and by then the 34-foot power boat was at the bottom of Lake Ontario.
The two men are lucky to be alive, as police estimated that the water was just 8 or 9 nine degrees at the time. They sustained no injuries.
