July 2, 2013 - Toronto Search and Rescue kicked off their water safety outreach program this past week at the Balmy Beach School. Commanding Officer Derek Cartier paid a surprise visit to the junior and senior kindergarten class on Wednesday to talk about the best ways to stay safe and have fun at the water’s edge. The young students were anxious to try on the personal flotation devices (PFDs) brought by Mr. Cartier. Students were left with take-home activity booklets featuring Pukta the Polar Bear from Transport Canada.
All told, it was a stellar start to the T-SAR outreach program, which continues next week with a water safety workshop at Ward 9 Co-operative Play School.
