July 1st... and Canadians rejoiced! The great dominion is 150!
As always, we were ready to pitch in and lend a hand. A good celebration on the water is a safe celebration on the water.
Okay, no desperate searches and rescues were needed.... which is a good thing. We did ride 'shotgun' (not literally) on a DUKW -- also known as a Duck. Our vessel, T-SAR 2 became an amphibious truck, repurposed as a bus, and was carrying sponsors, media and contest winners for the celebrations at the Redpath Waterfont Festival in Toronto.
We were also a water-safety resource and used to help control boat traffic. We were also lending out life-jackets from our tent on the shore. These are loaned on the honour system, and we are pleased to report that Torontonians are indeed honourable!
We did get on to Talk Radio 1010 and did some bridge-building with the media to help us get the message out about water safety. We were happy that we could participate and support our City on Canada's 150th!
